About player
Born on 3rd September 1987, Malan was born in a family with sporting in his genes. His father played domestic cricket, and so did his brother, while his sister was a field hockey player for South Africa. Malan learnt the basics of cricketing from his father at an early age.
He has played domestic cricket for years, representing Middlesex and has made countless appearances in numerous T20I leagues, including the IPL. He made his T20I and Test International debuts in 2017, while he debuted in the ODI format in 2019.
Early Career
From an early age, Dawid displayed talent and skill on the cricket field. At the tender age of 7, he made his first-class cricket debut for Boland, after which he joined Middlesex, for whom he has played for well over a decade.
He was handed over the captaincy for all three cricketing modes, ODI, Test and T20 of Middlesex before the 2018 season. However, he resigned from the post after the 2019 season and signed a four-year deal with Yorkshire.
In international cricket, he is a key part of the batting middle order for the England cricket team. Dawid plays as a left-handed batsman and, when required, performs as a leg spin bowler as well.

Records
Malan has quite a few records in his domestic career. He is the only batsman in history to have scored a century in a T20 match while batting at number 6. This record was unbeaten for the longest time until 2018. In 2019, Malan maintained good form all through the year, and it propelled him to the top of the ICC Rankings with a score of 915 points, which is the highest ever. Malan is also one of only four English batsmen to have scored a century in a T20 match.
ODIs
Even during his short career in ODIs, Malan has garnered a total run score of 1060 runs in 22 matches. His highest-ever score was 134, with an average run rate of 58.88. The middle-order batsman has a fantastic strike rate of 95.32.
Tests
Malan has played in 22 international Test matches with a total run score of 1074 runs. He has an average run rate of 27.53 with a strike rate of 40.96.
T20
Malan has played in a significantly higher number of T20 matches, and he truly shines in the format. His highest score out of 62 matches was 103 not out. He has an average run rate of 36.38, but his strike rate is phenomenal, at a staggering 132.49.
IPL
Malan was bought by Punjab Kings in 2021, but sadly, he was able to play only a single match in the season. However, he had a strike rate of 100 in that match, with a high score of 26 in a single match.
